Fees and Policies
The standard fee for a 50 minute session with Dr. Bothe is $200, payable by cash or check.
Upon patient request, a monthly billing statement can be provided for submission to health insurance companies. Health plans vary in terms of how much and what kind of mental health treatment they cover.
Messages are retrieved on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and every effort is made to return calls on the same business day. If you experience an after-hours psychiatric emergency, you should go to the emergency room in your area or call Psychiatric Emergency Services at San Francisco General Hospital at (415) 206-8125 for immediate assistance.
Dr. Bothe typically has a full schedule. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel a session within 48 hours of the scheduled time, you will be charged for the session.
The Use of Email
Email can be used for the purpose of scheduling and changing appointments. The same 48 hour change/cancellation policy applies using this means of communication. Email will not be used to discuss clinical diagnoses, assessments, or interventions. Please do not share any confidential information or report a psychiatric crisis by email.
Risks and Benefits
There are potential risks and benefits to psychological services. Sessions often involve discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, which may lead to you to experience uncomfortable feelings. These services have been shown to have benefit, but there are no guarantees of what you will gain.
